Between Christmas and New Years, between different states and various jobs that haven’t yet been published, I was invited to spend a weekend with friends in western Maryland. The exact location will remain undisclosed, but our host had this beautiful home built some years ago from two old log cabins found in Indiana and moved to a lovely part of Garrett County, Maryland. They were re-purposed for a new life the original builders hardly could have imagined.
The house wasn’t prepped nor were these photos made as a formal architectural shoot. This was just a quick break from a busy schedule, but the weather and location were irresistible – my surroundings were so harmonious I had to indulge in a few snapshots. I jokingly called this my “hardship quarters” for the weekend because I was without the Internet, but in truth I could do with a lot more of this kind of hardship. There are far worse places to be unable to check one’s email, and no nicer place to be snowed in.
Now it’s back to the grind again. I’m still looking forward to sharing some of the real-world work I’ve been doing, but meanwhile these are the kinds of unexpected things that pop my eyes wide open and make me glad to have my camera nearby.
A wonderful journal and images of a beautifully crafted home.
A lovely location and a gorgeous house! I love all the reclaimed details.
Wow. What a great place. Thanks for the photos! I have been waiting.
Lisa.
