Last week I was asked to photograph for Vibrant Life magazine at the DC area premiere of the documentary film “Forks Over Knives.” High points included the arrival of best-selling vegan author, Ironman triathlete and fireman Rip Esselstyn via fire truck, and Vibrant Life editor Heather Quintana meeting with “rock stars of healthy eating” Esselstyn and Dr. Neal Barnard.
I used available light on all photos (ISO 800 to 1600 for indoors) except the last two. The photos of Heather outside after sunset were lit by Lumedyne strobe (off camera with umbrella), metered to harmonize with ambient light at ISO 200.

“The Engine 2 Diet” and in her words, “the man who makes a vegan diet look oh-so-good.”
Volunteers from Vibrant Life handed out a special “Forks Over Knives” issue of the magazine to all in attendance.
Attendees at the premiere signed up for a free drawing at the publisher’s table.
